Representative snapshots of the neuroinflammatory microenvironment of β-amyloid plaques at various time points in the anterior cerebral cortex. Activated and non-activated microglia are indicated by white and orange boxes, respectively. Scale bars are 100µm.
Quantitative data showing age-dependent increase of Iba-1 stain density (A), microglia density (B), activated microglia density (C), and GFAP stain density (D) in the cerebral cortex of ARTE10 mouse model. N=10-12 mice per group. Statistical analysis was performed using Kruskal-Wallis non-parametric test and Dunn’s multiple comparisons test. *p<0.05; **p<0.005; ***p<0.001; ****p<0.0001.
We have quantified markers of microgliosis (Iba-1 stain density, total microglia, and activated microglia density), as well as astrogliosis (GFAP stain density) in the cerebral cortex of APP/PS1 mice at different time points. The transgenic mice demonstrated progressive, age-dependent increase in all of these measures.
